CONTEXT

In connection with the reopening of the Viking Age Museum, the museum wanted new souvenirs with a focus on sustainability and a clear connection to the museum.

THE CHALLENGE

How might a souvenir combine a clear reference to the Viking Age Museum with a product that retains value after use?

FORM DEVELOPMENT

Market research and interviews showed that tourists were looking for souvenirs with Scandinavian design and Norwegian quality. The museum's architecture and the Viking Age focus on hygiene and wellbeing informed the direction. I explored several concepts before developing the scent concept through sketches, 3D models and physical prototypes.

DESIGN PROPOSAL

The result was a reusable scent diffuser in three variants: Mjød, Bål and Skip. The concept explores an imagined collaboration with Skandinavisk, connecting an established Nordic scent universe with the Viking Age Museum's history and identity.
